Peer Support Worker - Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service (ESMHS)

Join the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) as a Peer Support Worker in the Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service.

  • Remuneration : $32.77 – $54.58 per hour, plus superannuation

  • Selection Criteria

  • Personal experience as a consumer of Mental Health Services and ability to utilise the lived experience to support others in their own mental health recovery journey.
  • Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or willingness and commitment to obtain. For Graduate Health Education Officers, additional relevant health degree required.
  • Experience working in a Mental Health Peer Worker role, with the ability to plan, implement and evaluate group and individual peer‑led activities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current local, State and National legislation and standards relevant to mental health.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to consumer‑led recovery principles and trauma‑informed care.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within the multidisciplinary team and with a diverse range of stakeholders including consumers, families and service providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team with excellent computer skills (proficient in MS Office applications).
  • Current driver’s licence (with willingness to travel in accordance with demands of the position).
