MMG Mining is an Australian-based, publicly listed, international mining group operating a range of base-metal and precious-metal mines in Australia. With a focus on safety, environmental protection and operational excellence, we are now seeking a Services Supervisor – Mining for our Rosebery underground polymetallic base-metal mine in Tasmania.
Job Overview
As Services Supervisor – Mining you will report to the Mining Superintendent and manage the day-to-day operations of underground services and civil works. The role is 7-day shift only, with DIDO or Residential options. You will be responsible for planning and coordinating the implementation of underground mine activities that support optimal mine development and production, while maintaining cost effectiveness and high safety standards in line with statutory obligations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and consistency for installation and maintenance of services infrastructure.
Manage the installation and maintenance of mine services (air, water, drainage, ventilation) and de-watering (including upper level water flows).
Oversee and report on the remnant pillar grouting program.
Control and schedule ad-hoc civil construction projects on surface and underground (fan installation, vent wall construction).
Ensure installation standards of services adhere to site requirements.
Oversee the management of the magazine including stock accounting, refuge chamber servicing and maintenance.
Monitor task progress and ensure adherence to plans.
Plan and control priorities to achieve associated support activities in accordance with the weekly schedule using appropriate management systems.
Maintain knowledge and understanding of current mine schedules and critical issues to achieve plan targets.
Understand cost drivers in mining operations and seek improvement in unit cost performance.
Monitor performance, report variances that prevent the services and shift plan from being achieved and produce corrective actions.
Provide skill development and succession planning for shift personnel.
Create a safe work culture by promoting safe work practices.
Adhere to MMG Code of Conduct and demonstrate ethical professional behaviour.
About You
Minimum of 5 years' experience in an underground mine with at least 12 months of supervisory responsibility.
Strong communication and organisational capabilities with proven leadership to drive continuous improvement.
Ability to review and coordinate updates of procedures and systems for consistency and efficiency.
Strong ability to resolve issues through regular communication and reviews with project teams.
Capability to scope projects, assign priorities and distribute tasks for direct reports while maintaining workload equity.
Knowledge of relevant mine legislation, OH&S and the ability to minimise risk exposure and liabilities.
