What You Will Do
In addition to the general Speech Pathologist roles & responsibilities : Speech – support to speak more clearly and be understoodLanguage – support for people who may have trouble putting their ideas and thoughts into words and sentences or who may need support with reading and writingAugmentative and Alternative Communication – support using devices for people with complex communication needsSocial Skills – support to improve the understanding of the rules for social interaction and awareness of body language, facial expressions and voice tone to improve social interactionsStuttering – provide strategies to support smooth speech delivery and management of stuttering to increase confidenceVoice – provide exercises and support to optimize voice quality and develop healthy vocal habitsWorking with adults and children who have a range of conditions : ASD, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental delays, Stammers, ADHD, Intellectual disabilities, Cleft Palate, Voice disordersSwallowing – make mealtime more enjoyable by reducing risk and increasing acceptance of different foods and texturesTaking on more clients than new gradsSeeing a greater variety of clients of all typesCompleting AT assessment and reports independentlyBe able to effectively supervise AHA students in clinicGive opportunity to new grads to observeBe a buddy for new grad Speech PathologistsParticipate in MDT training and workshopsBegin to build skills in particular clinical areasYou Will Also Be Responsible For
Taking on more COMPLEX clients and seeing a greater variety of clients of all typesCompleting AT assessment and reports independently for specialised ATSupervising SP and AHA students in clinicGiving opportunity to new grads to observeBeing a buddy for new grad Speech PathologistsParticipating in MDT training and workshopsBeginning to build skills in particular clinical areasProviding mentoring and supervision for Speech and new grad SpeechiesHow We Will Support You
