Australia’s Manuka is now looking for an experienced Apiarist to join their team :

The right candidate will be responsible for :

  • Maintain and inspect beehives to ensure strong, productive colonies;
  • Check bees regularly for diseases, pests, and overall health;
  • Monitor Manuka bloom periods and relocate hives to optimise honey yield;
  • Extract honey efficiently while minimising disruption to the bees;
  • Collect honey samples for laboratory testing to verify quality and MGO levels;
  • Use ethical, eco-friendly methods that support long-term bee health;
  • Document hive performance, health checks, and honey yields;
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment to ensure hygiene and functionality;
  • Work with internal teams to meet quality standards and production goals;
  • Stay informed on best practices and train others when needed;

About you :

  • At least 3 years of experience as an Apiarist;
  • Strong knowledge of bee behaviour, colony management, and hive maintenance;
  • Understanding of Manuka plant species, flowering seasons, and the factors affecting MGO levels in honey;
  • Ability to identify and treat common bee pests and diseases using safe, approved methods;
  • Proficiency in harvesting honey efficiently while maintaining quality and hygiene;
  • Ability to maintain accurate records for traceability, biosecurity, and quality assurance;
  • Quick and effective response to issues like swarming, hive stress, or environmental threats;
