Care Workers work as part of a collaborative team and are responsible for providing quality and professional care, wellness and health support services that encourage independence and improve the quality of life of individuals. The role role is responsible for :
Perform care and support services in accordance with client care plans in a timely and effective way taking into account the client’s abilities, preferences and decisions
Assist the clients with daily living activities and or personal care according to their care needs and care plan ensuring their independence and dignity is maintained
Perform light domestic household duties including but not limited to meal preparation, cooking, feeding washing dishes or laundry
Perform general household cleaning including but not limited to dusting, mopping, ironing, vacuuming, cleaning toilet & bathing areas
Assist toileting of clients including transferring clients using appropriate equipment
Accompany clients on social outings, client services, medical appointments and shopping ensuring safety of the clients
Provide companionship and emotional support to client
Monitor client progress and changes, report any changes to client condition or environment in a timely manner
Document and record information accurately and in a timely manner
Maintain the privacy & confidentiality of client at all times
Comply with organisational, policies, and procedure as implemented and enforced
Carry out all reasonable and lawful instructions by your Supervisor and maintain skills and knowledge in relation to your work including attending staff and supervision meetings
Attend and complete all annual mandatory and compulsory training or refresher courses to make sure you comply with the legislative requirements of your role
Act as a constructive member of the Operations team
Proactively be aware of safe working conditions and follow safe work practices in all areas and report all incidents and potential hazards in a timely manner
Maintain a high standard of conduct and work performance and model Melbar’s
Values to promote the organisation’s reputation with internal and external stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential :
A valid Australian driver’s license
Own reliable and roadworthy car with current comprehensive insurance
A National Police Criminal Record check from within the last 12 months.

Experience :
Relevant experience in Aged Care / Disability Support or Community Care environment
Skills :
Good computer literacy skills including ability to communicate electronically via phone and email
