Team Leader – Development Engineering

Position Overview
Lead a specialist team of development engineers to assess and manage infrastructure associated with development applications in a collaborative, customer‑focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a high‑performing team of development engineers.
- Ensure engineering assessments align with timeframes for development assessment and take a proactive approach to problem resolution.
- Confirm that assessments comply with council’s policies, planning instruments and all relevant legislative obligations.
- Drive process improvement and champion a culture of customer service and safety.
- Provide expert guidance on complex development matters, including land titling, subdivision certificates and infrastructure design.
- Foster strong relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, developers, contractors and government agencies.
- Represent council as an expert witness at the NSW Land & Environment Court when required.
- Support team development through mentoring, feedback and council’s professional growth programs.
Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.A valid Class C Driver’s Licence and a General Construction Induction Card NSW.Extensive experience in development assessment and managing a team within a fast‑paced local government environment.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.Proven problem‑solving abilities and sound judgement in engineering matters.A thorough understanding of land titling matters and relevant environmental legislation.Benefits
