About the Role :
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Store Manager to lead the daily operations of Metro Petroleum Rutherglen. This hands-on role covers fuel and convenience retail management, food service coordination, and team supervision. The Store Manager will oversee menu and kitchen operations with our chefs, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and drive excellent customer service and sales performance across all areas of the business.
Key duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to :
Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Oversee day-to-day store operations, including fuel dispensing, shop cleanliness, cash handling, and security procedures.
- Ensure full compliance with all occupational health and safety regulations, fuel handling protocols, and environmental standards.
- Conduct regular checks on store equipment, fuel pumps, and POS systems to ensure safe and uninterrupted service delivery.
Customer Service & Sales
Lead the delivery of outstanding customer service, ensuring all customer interactions are handled with professionalism, efficiency, and courtesy.Implement customer-centric sales strategies to increase store revenue, including upselling techniques, store layout enhancements, and promotional activity execution.Provide in-depth product knowledge to customers regarding fuel, lubricants, and convenience items, ensuring a seamless and helpful shopping experience.Stock & Inventory Management
Determine appropriate product mix, stock levels, and replenishment strategies for fuel, grocery, automotive, and convenience lines.Oversee purchasing processes, manage supplier relationships, and ensure cost-effective procurement and stock rotation to minimize losses.Maintain accurate records of inventory, ensuring timely restocking and the availability of high-demand items at all times.Team Leadership & Development
Recruit, train, supervise, and manage front-line retail staff and fuel attendants in line with operational needs and safety protocols.Provide staff with regular coaching and performance feedback, fostering a positive team culture focused on accountability, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.Ensure team members are well-versed in store procedures, safety standards, and product knowledge.Marketing & Promotions
Develop and implement localized marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns in coordination with corporate branding standards.Promote the station’s goods and services through in-store signage, customer engagement, and external advertising to drive increased foot traffic.Monitor the effectiveness of marketing activities and adjust strategies to maximize customer engagement and sales conversion.Financial & Performance Oversight
Monitor and report on daily sales, fuel volumes, and store profitability, identifying trends, forecasting demand, and addressing variances.Assist in preparing and managing store budgets, setting sales targets, and evaluating financial performance.Maintain accurate financial records, including EFTPOS and cash transactions, and ensure financial controls are strictly adhered to.Workflow Optimization & Reporting
Review operational workflows and make improvements to enhance service efficiency, reduce wait times, and streamline stock handling.Prepare regular reports on store performance, staff productivity, and inventory management for senior management review.Use data insights to inform purchasing decisions, staffing requirements, and sales strategies.Qualifications :
Tertiary qualifications in Retail Management, Business Administration, or Hospitality Management (preferred but not required)Other Skills and Requirements :
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Store Manager or in a similar leadership role within a fast-paced environment.Safety & Compliance : Ensures full adherence to fuel handling, workplace safety, and regulatory standards.Store Operations : Manages daily store activities, staffing, POS systems, and site maintenance for smooth operations.Sales & Growth : Drives sales and local marketing initiatives to boost revenue and customer traffic.Team Leadership : Recruits, trains, and motivates staff to maintain high service standards and operational efficiency.Financial Management : Monitors sales, controls expenses, and supports budgeting for sustained profitability.Why Join Us?
