Overview
Join to apply for the Cloud (Azure) Systems Administrator role at Talent. The out client is seeking an experienced Cloud (Azure) Systems Administrator to provide advanced operational support, optimization, and governance across its Microsoft Azure environment. This role contributes to the Department’s cloud-first strategy by ensuring secure, scalable, and cost-effective services underpinning digital transformation initiatives. You will act as the L3 technical specialist, collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve complex issues, uplift platform stability, and strengthen automation and compliance frameworks.
Location : Canberra, ACT (Hybrid). Security Clearance : Baseline Clearance (Desirable). Contract Length : 12 months + 12-month extension (Based on the Department’s discretion).
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver day-to-day operational support, troubleshooting, and service request resolution for the Azure environment.
- Monitor and respond to alerts using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and related observability tools.
- Support Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices with Bicep, Terraform, or ARM templates.
- Enforce Azure policies, tagging standards, and governance rules.
- Assist in cost optimisation through consumption analysis and remediation actions.
- Conduct access and RBAC reviews in collaboration with Cyber Security.
- Maintain backup, DR configurations, and hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute, VPN, AD Connect).
- Provide technical guidance to project teams on workload deployments and infrastructure changes.
- Contribute to automation, tooling enhancements, and operational procedure documentation.
- Provide escalation-level support for complex hardware, software, and network issues.
- Mentor junior technical staff and contribute to knowledge sharing.
What We Are Looking For
Demonstrated experience in operational support of Microsoft Azure environments, including troubleshooting and monitoring.Strong proficiency with Azure-native tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Security Centre).Experience implementing and maintaining IaC with Bicep, Terraform, or ARM templates.Knowledge of Azure governance, RBAC, and compliance frameworks.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost and performance optimisation.Effective communication and stakeholder management skills across ICT, Finance, Security, and Cloud Services.Proven ability to document operational procedures, architectural patterns, and automation scripts.Desirable Skills & Experience
Exposure to hybrid cloud connectivity and integrations with on-premises environments.Experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies in Azure.Familiarity with audit readiness and compliance reporting.Why Join Our Client?
