About the Role
As a Design Studio Engineer, you will work with many team members to make the design vision a reality. From developing initial engineering concepts for a new design, guiding, and integrating multiple engineering and manufacturing inputs into the A surface, providing alternative proposals that enable new ways of reconciling functional requirements and thematic intent, to building a suitable physical model that makes the concept and reality.
This position reports directly to the Design Engineering Manager and is based at the Design Studio in Broadmeadows, operating on a hybrid schedule with four days in the office.
Education : Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or automotive equivalent.
Experience (Vehicle Layout) : Minimum 5 years of proven experience in complete vehicle layout / package, including Body-In-White and Trim.
Communication & Leadership : Must be a self-starter with excellent communication skills, capable of leading presentations and discussions in decision-making forums.
Technical Proficiency (CAD & Design) : Highly proficient in CAD software, with a strong understanding of design studio procedures and the design feasibility progression process.
Legislative Knowledge : Strong familiarity with legislative requirements impacting the design feasibility process.
Feasibility Tools : Demonstrated understanding and application of various feasibility tools, particularly within the design studio environment.
Production Process Knowledge : Strong understanding of automotive production processes.
Preferred Qualifications :
Creative Environment Experience : Experience working with designers and / or in a creative studio environment.
Adaptability & Multi-tasking : Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to constant shifts in priority.
