About The Role

  • This position is based on Ward K3 within the Maternity and Gynacology Service, where you will have the chance to care for primarily surgical patients allocated to our flexible surge beds.
  • The ward features eight beds that expand during periods of high hospital activity, allowing you to practice and enhance your skills across a diverse range of disciplines.
  • In this role, you will contribute to the exceptional culture of our K3 team, renowned for delivering quality, compassionate care to women from various medical specialties.

Responsibilities

  • Providing efficient, person‑centred care that meets the needs of patients and their families.
  • Acting as an advocate to help patients make informed decisions and ensuring they understand clinical interventions and service delivery processes.
  • Making appropriate referrals for patients’ discharge needs and offering supervision and mentoring to staff and students.
  • Redeployment may occur to the K3 gynaecology beds or other areas within John Hunter Hospital, ensuring a varied and enriching experience.
  • Professional Development

  • Orientation day and ongoing support from a Clinical Nurse Educator.
  • Access to regular educational opportunities through the Maternity and Gynaecology Service’s education team and broader hospital‑wide resources.
  • Requirements

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • For permanent employment : Australian Citizen, permanent resident of Australia, or New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport.
  • Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable local candidate is identified; if offered, it must align with visa conditions and expiry date.
