Data Analyst

Talent International is searching for an experienced Data Analyst to join our large utility client based in Fortitude Valley on a 12 month contract basis + likely extensions.

About the role:

The purpose of this role is to assist with the implementation of the client's Data Strategy. Working within a team of business intelligence specialists, this role will develop, guide and support the Business Process Owners in their journey through the data maturity road map. Defining, documenting, and developing the various artifacts and supporting technical solutions to bring rigor across the data management lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Rapidly become a data specialist with the natural curiosity to explore existing and new data sources to enable the decentralised reporting and analytics team to add value to the delivery of the client's Data strategy
• Assist with the implementation, rollout and management of the future data management tooling
• Use a curious mindset and strong analytical capability to deliver high quality analyses and investigative pieces, and communicate findings concisely and clearly to business stakeholders
• Utilise analytical and visualisation skills to answer business questions in an agile and creative fashion, bringing data to life using strong communication skills
• Cultivate open and clear communication across team members and stakeholders
• Investigate and apply innovative and new analytical and statistical techniques and packages to support the organisation on its data maturity journey
• Understand the implications of data integrity and reporting as a result of upstream/downstream changes

Technical Skills Requirement:

• Data management lifecycle
• Proficiency in best practice data visualisation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Analytics and problem solving in a business setting
• High level negotiation, consultation and facilitation
• Maintaining and moving rapidly between 'big picture' vision and detailed/tactical level work plans

Qualifications & Experience
Mandatory:

• 5+ years of data analyst experience
• Bachelors degree in IT, Business or related field
• Experience developing and maintaining strong working relationships across multiple levels and functions
• Experience working in ambiguous situations with resilience, tenacity and a propensity to perservere
• Experience gleaning and collating business requirements
• Experience managing multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
• Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative and team oriented environment

Desirable:

• Experience working across a geographically dispersed and multi-regional environment
• Exposure to coding skills using SQL, Hive, Python, or R on large datasets
