Retrieval Registrars and Consultants

Overview

The Royal Flying Doctor Service is an organisation that supports rural and remote communities since 1928 and is there when we are needed most. We are currently recruiting for the Emergency Retrieval team with February 2026 and August 2026 start dates. Opportunities are available for Full Time Registrars and Part Time Consultants to join our team. With us you'll get regional living and the ability to be with a patient from the moment they call for help to ensure they receive the best care.

A Day in the Life of a Retrieval Registrar

No two days or two patients will be the same. We offer a rotating training program with placements in Dubbo and Broken Hill, NSW, across our Bases in Dubbo and Broken Hill, and local rural hospitals.

What we are looking for

• Medical Officers with a minimum of 5 years post graduate experience
• Advanced trainee level from one of CICM, ACEM, ANZCA, ACRRM (with JCCA / DRGA). This includes equivalent colleges from eligible overseas applicants.
• Completed a minimum total of 18 months critical care time (ED and ICU) and 6 months anaesthetics
• Experience in the management of critically ill patients including trauma
• Ideally have completed ALS, APLS, ATLS (or equivalent)
• Recency of practice in a critical care environment
