Senior Consultant – Carbon and Climate

ERM is seeking a motivated Senior Consultant to join our Corporate Sustainability and Climate Change team in Sydney / Melbourne. We welcome both technical and generalist candidates with the following skills to apply.

Managing Clients and Projects

Project management and deliver client satisfaction;

Builds strong relationships with clients and / or business partners.

Can apply strategic thinking in order to influence decision-makers and outcomes.

Demonstrates strong analytical skills, excellent writing and presentation skills, and a mastery of impactful client communication.

Where appropriate manage the other service teams on opportunities, proposals, projects and other marketing / business activities across the team, the company and broadly ERM global business.

Teamwork and Organization

Is a role model and comfortable mentoring junior staff.

Contributes to partnerships and relationships with clients, external stakeholders and key opinion leaders.

Strong technical climate change skills

Understanding of carbon accounting fundamentals.

Understanding of the technical and financial dimensions of decarbonisation technologies which may include energy efficiency, renewables, storage, electric vehicles, land use / sequestration and / or industrial processes.

Experience in quantitative modelling including the ability to develop carbon inventories, develop emissions projections and calculate emissions abatement from specific decarbonisation opportunities.

Understanding of physical and transitional climate risk and opportunity assessment methods (including scenario analysis).

Expertise in Excel.

Requirements :

Bachelor's degree in science, economics, engineering, or similar discipline.

5+ years of professional experience

2+ years Consulting experience

Understanding of current trends in renewable energy, decarbonization strategies / Net Zero planning, and Low Carbon Economy Transition.

Ability to work independently, strong organization and time-management skills.

Attention to detail and commitment to deliver high-quality work products.

Personal resilience and flexibility to navigate through ambiguity and conflicting priorities while delivering results under pressure in a challenging environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Highly regarded :

Climate Active Registration.

Prior LCA experience.

Prior project management experience in consulting.

Experience in climate risk assessment and scenario analysis.
