Overview

Join to apply for the Teacher - Science role at Department of Education, Western Australia . This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026.

The School

Comet Bay College is a modern, innovative Independent Public School that caters for Year 7 to 12 students. It is located near the coast in Secret Harbour and offers facilities including specialist science laboratories, a lecture theatre, fitness centre, metal fabrication centre, a modern industrial food studio and graphics / mechatronics studio. The staff facilities are excellent; each Learning Area is fully equipped and spacious. The Science Department provides ongoing professional learning opportunities to support professional growth as a high-quality teaching professional.

The College supports innovative and engaging curriculum delivery, with digital TVs and projectors in classrooms and class sets of iPads and laptops. It is a Gifted and Talented school with extension pathways in English, Mathematics, Science and Humanities and Social Sciences for Years 7 to 10. The Senior School has outcomes in ATAR and VET pathways.

The Role

Comet Bay College is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Science Teacher to a full-time permanent position starting Term 1, 2026. The successful applicant preferably has experience teaching ATAR Science and teaching Senior School WA Curriculum (WACE) Science to help students achieve outstanding results. Opportunities to work across Years 7 to 12 and contribute to the Learning Area and Gifted and Talented / Academic Extension programs may be available.

The successful applicant should be student- and relationship-focused, highly motivated, innovative and able to work in a team. They should reflect on the effectiveness of their teaching using various methods, promote active learning, and provide opportunities for students to reach their highest potential. Strong interpersonal skills are required to work with students, teachers, and the community.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must :

  • hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration;
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment;;
  • apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start; and
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
