About The Opportunity
This After Hours Clinical Nurse Consultant role at Bankstown Hospital offers a unique opportunity to lead with compassion, expertise, and influence. As a key figure in the after-hours team, you'll provide expert clinical advice in complex situations, support evidence-based practice, and collaborate closely with nurses, patients, carers, and other health professionals. Beyond clinical excellence, this role is about driving meaningful change. You'll be empowered to shape the service, mentor others, and contribute to the hospital’s ongoing improvement. With your advanced knowledge and leadership skills, you’ll help foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning, working alongside After-Hours Nurse Managers (AHNM), Nurse Unit Managers, educators, medical and allied health team, and students.
What You'll Be Doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership, facilitates evidence based practice. The CNC will promote a service which fosters clinical excellence, research and professional leadership. The CNC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with the health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. The CNC is responsible for providing services which facilitate effective management of the care in the given specialty.

Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital is located in the city of Bankstown and is in one of the most multicultural local government areas (LGA) in Australia. This hospital has tertiary affiliations with three universities and offers a range of roles and experiences to employees. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field. In addition, the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing / midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which the employee is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
