Job description

I am a 58-year-old husband, father and friend who has enjoyed a fulfilling career and a vibrant life. I am currently in hospital following a high-level spinal injury and will soon return to my family home in a suburb of the Wanneroo Shire, where I live with my wife. As a tetraplegic, I will require a dedicated team of support workers to assist me with my daily activities, to help me maintain health, wellness and fitness and continue to enjoy an inspired life.

I enjoy connecting with nature, whether bush or beach, and with your assistance to adhere to my prescribed daily maintenance and training program in the home and at the gym, I will eventually be able to return to some of the physical outdoor activities I gain enjoyment from such as off-road cycling and swimming. I value quality time with friends and family, am an enthusiastic conversationalist and have a keen sense of humour. I am interested in most sport, and enjoy live music, festivals : music / vaudeville / comedy, live theatre, art exhibitions and delicious, nutritious food.

The support I am needing by a small, motivated team includes assisting with my mobility and transfer needs with use of a hoist, personal care such as showering and grooming, home duties such as meal preparation, feeding and hydrating, and general housework and cleaning. Experience with supporting someone in this regard is essential. I also need support to access my local community. I would like to develop my confidence to navigate the local area more independently, to connect with local sporting and community groups and participate in fitness programs.
