Is it time to move ‘downunder’ for sunshine and work / life balance?
This service is looking for a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to work in Central Queensland, a regional location offering an ideal lifestyle for singles, couples, and families, and known as the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.
The Role and Hospital
Rockhampton Hospital offers accredited registrar training and experience for Rural Generalists and GP Obstetricians. It is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, providing maternity care for over 1200 deliveries annually, through shared care, Midwife teams, and High-Risk Clinics. The maternity unit includes a level four (≥32 weeks) special care nursery.
The department provides level five laparoscopic and major gynaecological surgeries with 12-14 scheduled theatre lists per fortnight, plus daily general gynaecology and antenatal clinics, uro-gynaecology, colposcopy, and a community Indigenous antenatal clinic.
Gladstone Hospital delivers about 600 babies annually, with a maternity unit featuring three birth suites, a 14-bed antenatal / postnatal ward, and a neonatal nursery. Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team of midwives, doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals.
Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) or equivalent, with training completed in the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, or New Zealand.
The Medical Board of Australia has introduced a new expedited pathway for doctors with a UK or Irish CCT awarded after 2007, removing the need for a college assessment.
The Region
The region offers a superb lifestyle and a healthy family environment, with cultural, recreational, and sporting activities. Real estate prices are very affordable, allowing you to choose town, coast, or country living, with options for tropical gardens, swimming pools, etc. You can enjoy activities like strolling along the river, exploring beaches, Carnarvon National Park, botanical gardens, and the Great Barrier Reef.
