About us

The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) is the leading advocate for surgical standards, professionalism and surgical education in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The College is a not-for-profit organisation that represents more than 8600 surgeons and 1300 surgical trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates.

RACS also supports healthcare and surgical education in the Asia-Pacific region and is a substantial funder of surgical research. There are nine surgical specialties in Australasia being : Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery.

About the role

In this pivotal role, you will support the NT Chair and Committee, helping to build and maintain strong relationships with key health sector stakeholders, including the NT Health Minister and government representatives. You’ll play an integral part in advocacy efforts, organising events and meetings, and delivering member-focused support for our Fellows, Trainees, and Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs).

Key Responsibilities include :

  • Support the RACS NT Chair and Committee in advocacy and stakeholder engagement
  • Coordinate meetings, rural visits, and key health sector roundtables
  • Liaise with universities and surgical interest groups on careers and training events
  • Assist in organising the NT Annual Scientific Meeting and other RACS activities
  • Provide high-quality customer service to RACS members and stakeholders
  • Prepare reports and assist with administrative and committee support

This role is part time, 1 day per week.

About you

You are an excellent communicator with experience in advocacy, stakeholder engagement or supporting governance in a government, health, or not-for-profit setting. You thrive in a collaborative environment, can work independently, and bring a high level of organisation and attention to detail. Other skills include :

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in stakeholder relations, advocacy or member engagement
  • Proven organisational and administrative capabilities
  • Excellent written skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
