About the opportunity..

Are you a visionary designer who thrives at the intersection of creativity and strategy? As the  Lead Designer , you'll play a pivotal role in crafting user-centered experiences that drive customer satisfaction and business success.

In this role, you'll leverage both qualitative and quantitative insights to inform product decisions and elevate outcomes. From leading user research, interviews, and surveys to fostering a collaborative design culture, you'll be at the heart of a dynamic, innovative process.

The core responsibilities of the  Lead Designer  includes but is not limited to :

1. Leadership and People Management :   Lead and mentor a Product Design team, driving growth and impactful outcomes. Conduct regular 1 : 1s, performance reviews, and give actionable feedback. Champion the design team across the organization to align efforts with strategic goals

2. Strategic Collaboration and Work Prioritisation :  Align Product Design with company goals by collaborating with R&D leadership to prioritise work and set direction. Define a clear UX vision for ELMO products, support lean, MVP-focused Scrum practices, and guide decisions through research and customer feedback

3. User-Centred Design and Research : Champion a user-centered design approach by leading and mentoring lean research practices. Conduct and facilitate research to uncover customer needs, combining qualitative and quantitative insights. Promote cross-functional collaboration through inclusive planning, ideation, and usability activities

4. Design Execution and Excellence :  Contribute hands-on to design work, creating user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs using the ELMO design system. Ensure accessibility, uphold visual standards, and deliver elegant, scalable solutions across devices and interfaces.

5. Innovation and Industry Awareness : Monitor industry trends and competitors to drive innovation and refine UX strategies for continuous improvement.

6. Culture and Vision Building :  Foster a collaborative team culture, driving creativity and respect. Lead ideation sessions and advocate for the value of user-centered design in achieving business goals at ELMO.

7. Compliance and Delivery :  Ensure compliance with ELMO’s security and privacy policies and support timely delivery of business and client outcomes through collaboration and execution.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience : Minimum 5 years in Product Design, with 2+ years in a leadership role managing and mentoring teams.
  • Portfolio : A strong portfolio showcasing your expertise in end-to-end design process, from discovery to delivery.
  • Experience with mobile design : designing for mobile platforms and optimising user experiences for a variety of devices is highly desired.
  • Tools : Our component library is made in Figma. Demonstrated experience utilising best practices and advanced features to streamline design workflows, promote collaboration, and ensure consistency across projects within the suite of products.
  • Design thinking : Deep understanding of design principles, user-centred design methodologies, and design thinking, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
  • Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and elevate the design team within the company.
  • Leadership abilities : Proven ability to lead and inspire design teams, manage cross-functional relationships, and prioritise work effectively in fast-paced environments.
  • Adaptability : Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and priorities effectively while maintaining a positive attitude and attention to quality.
