Sunlover Reef Cruises travels daily from Cairns, via Fitzroy Island to Moore Reef on the beautiful Great Barrier Reef.

We offer a complete reef tourism experience, with an award winning team providing glass bottom and semi-submersible boat tours, guided snorkelling interpretive tours, introductory and certified diving, seawalker helmet diving and helicopter reef scenic flights.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MED1 to join us on an exciting new journey aboard the Sunlover Catalina, our latest addition to the vibrant Cairns marine scene. Freshly refurbished and brimming with modern amenities, the Sunlover Catalina stands as our flagship vessel, promising unforgettable experiences for both passengers and crew alike.

As the MED1, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our vessel's advanced systems.

Essential skills and experience :

• MED1 qualification essential with trade background preferably mechanical.
• Ensure vessel is maintained in clean, seaworthy and mechanically sound state.
• Carry out mechanical repairs to ship machinery e.g. generators, main engines, pipework and pumps.
• Electrical / mechanical fault finding.
• Extensive maritime engineering experience and ability to work with a small team of marine engineers along with a crew of around 30 each day.
• Previous maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
• Servicing and upkeep of all onboard systems safely and efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral, including ability to work closely with the Captain of the vessel and report to management.
• Ability to adhere to company operating standards.

This position requires working weekends and public holidays; flexibility is needed to accommodate operational needs.
