About us : We are owned by Auto & General Insurance Company and part of the A&G group with brands such as iSelect and Compare the Market. In late 2024, we formed a new aggregation business that supports millions of Australians in comparing and buying personal finance and household products.

The opportunity

As our Technical Product Owner, you will play a pivotal role in guiding the evolution of Galaxy – our “comparison as a service” platform. Working closely with Delivery Leads, Engineering Managers, and a high‑performing engineering team, you’ll bridge business strategy and technical execution.

In this role you will

  • Help shape and maintain the product backlog for Galaxy, translating business objectives and technical requirements into actionable deliverables.
  • Collaborate with engineers and architects to inform technical solutions, participate in architectural reviews, and support migration and integration strategies.
  • Serve as a key liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and shared understanding of priorities.
  • Guide the team alongside Delivery Leads and Engineering Managers through sprint planning, execution, and review, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and align with our technology roadmap.
  • Champion Agile best practices, monitor key delivery metrics (such as DORA, feature adoption, and post‑release issues), and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Proactively identify, communicate, and help resolve risks, dependencies, and blockers impacting Galaxy’s delivery.

    • About you

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role, ideally in a technical or platform environment.
  • Comfortable working alongside engineers, Delivery Leads, and Engineering Managers, and able to engage in technical discussions about architecture and migration.
  • Solid understanding of software development and Agile methodologies; experience working with cross‑functional engineering teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; able to translate business needs into technical requirements clearly.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, focusing on delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Skilled at fostering collaboration and alignment across multiple teams and functions.
  • Experience with tools like Jira or Azure DevOps is highly regarded.
