Job description

Please note this position is also being advertised as Clinical Nurse Consultant - Triage MHS Acute Care Stream (526228) and one position will be filled on merit.

The Role :

  • Day to day oversight of a regional triage service and all liked staffing and physical resources.
  • Initial assessment and triage of all office hours contacts and referrals to the Acute Care Stream to determine the nature and appropriateness of the same, formulate an initial service response and set timeframes for management.
  • Deliver assertive, comprehensive community-based mental health triage services which includes conducting comprehensive initial, assessments, mental state examinations, risk assessments, formulating initial management plans, delivering brief psychotherapeutic interventions, psychoeducation and facilitating appropriate, timely ongoing internal and external referrals as required.
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of effective relationships and communication channels with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, to promote timely and seamless access to specialist services and transfers of care.

Details of Appointment :

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 15.2 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

  • notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant
  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
  • Location : North-West Tasmania

    Salary :

    116,616 - $124,147 pro rata, per annum + 11% superannuation

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
  • In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available :

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $120,908 is subject to qualifications and / or application to the personal upgrade scheme
  • Eligibility :

    Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria :

  • Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; or
  • Degree in Social Work giving eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; or
  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable :

  • Holds or is working towards relevant post graduate qualifications in Mental Health
  • The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted :

  • Conviction checks in the following areas :
  • Crimes of violence
  • sex related offences
  • serious drug offences
  • crimes involving dishonesty
  • serious traffic offences
  • Identification check
  • Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
