About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and talented Assistant Restaurant Manager at Gowings, QT Sydney.
You'll bring energy, talent, and a guest-focused mindset to one of the city's most iconic and design-driven dining destinations.
Rooted in history but made for now, Gowings is where classic steakhouse theatrics meet Sydney's freshest flair — flames leap, martinis are wheeled tableside, and handmade pastas steal the spotlight.
It's where old-school technique meets modern expression : punchy, polished, and never without a side of drama.
In this role, you'll support and inspire a passionate team to deliver an elevated food and beverage experience, championing a distinctive wine program and curated spirits while driving service standards in a fast-paced, design-driven environment.
With a team-first attitude and a commitment to excellence, you'll play a key part in crafting unforgettable guest moments.
Skills & Experience
2+ years of experience as an Assistant Restaurant Manager or similar role within busy, premium hospitality venues.
Hotel experience preferable but not essential.
Ability to deliver a high-level guest experience, exceeding expectations for VIP clientele and hotel guests.
Assisted in managing medium sized restaurant teams, with a focus on developing and training staff.
Deliver immersive food and beverage experiences for guests, including tastings, pairings, and storytelling around the program.
Maintain accurate stock control, cellar organisation, and efficient beverage inventory management.
Collaborate closely with the Head Chef and Restaurant Manager on menu pairings, seasonal updates, and experience-led offerings.
Ensure full compliance with licensing laws, RSA requirements, and health & safety standards.
Uphold QT and Gowings' grooming, presentation, and service-style standards.
Participate actively in team briefings, training sessions, and operational meetings.
Support the floor during peak periods, stepping in as both a sommelier and an on-floor service ambassador.
An understanding of budget management, cost control, and P&L analysis for data-driven decision-making.
