The Geospatial Specialist reports to the Senior Geospatial Specialist and supports the administration and maintenance of the Tribunal's geospatial datasets and provides geospatial services to assist the Tribunal with specific functions and responsibilities under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth).
Duties and responsibilitiesUndertake data capture and complex geospatial analysis associated with native title and related matters.Contribute to in the management and maintenance of datasets and services to support the delivery of geospatial products.Contribute to the development, testing, documentation, maintenance and sustained provision of ArcGIS Enterprise including online map and analysis services.Prioritise and plan work effectively to meet deadlines under limited direction and seek assistance whenever required.Provide support, coaching and guidance to less experienced employees, and training on geospatial practices, products and services to both internal and external staff and stakeholders.Promote innovation and improvement and assist in identifying customer / stakeholder interests and needs.Participate in the section's operational planning process and contribute to the development of longer term initiatives.Establish and maintain collaborative and consultative processes and relationships across the NNTT and with external stakeholders.Ensure compliance with Tribunal and government policy and legislative requirements.Selection CriteriaPossess and demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander people.Possess and demonstrate an ability to communicate sensitively with stakeholders including with Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander people.Knowledge of native title and the National Native Title Tribunal's functions or the ability to quickly acquire this.Demonstrated experience in spatial data management, analysis and mapping using ESRI desktop and server based GIS solutions. Experience using FME and SQL Server Spatial or equivalent.Substantial knowledge of Geospatial data and information associated with :Torrens land tenure system,Interpretation of historical tenure,Mining, Petroleum and other land or water based tenures, andNative title.Ability to manage competing demands by effectively managing workloads.Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate cooperation between business units.This vacancy is advertised as an 'identified position' as both the role and the work of the National Native Title Tribunal have a strong involvement in issues relating to Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander people._
