Remuneration : $64,046.06 - $66,1770.25 per annum

Hours Per Week : 38 (Job Share for part time hours may be considered)

Location : Westmead

Applications are sought for the role of Ward Clerk, for Westmead operating suites, a tertiary referral trauma centre with 24 operating rooms. The position is responsible for providing professional, high quality customer service for the Medical, nursing staff and patients and functions to support the effective and efficient delivery of surgical procedures, to support elective and emergency surgery. Ward Clerk support the service from 0700-2200 Monday to Friday and 0800-1630 on weekends and roles include admitting and discharging patients, scheduling cases, managing reception enquiries and check in of patients for procedures. The position contributes to continuous improvement of team processes.

What you\'ll be doing

As a Ward Clerk, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of surgical procedures. You’ll provide high-quality administrative and customer service support to medical and nursing staff, ensuring accurate documentation and efficient patient flow.

  • Deliver timely and professional customer service to staff and patients
  • Maintain accurate patient records using Surginet and iPMS
  • Support staff functions and escalate complex issues appropriately
  • Identify and implement service improvements
  • Participate in team collaboration and training initiatives

    Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated effective skills and knowledge relating to patient medical records
  • Demonstrated effective skills for working in a team environment and the ability to work productively in co-located and virtual team environments.
  • Demonstrated skills in office support technology including IPMs, Surginet and Surginet Anaesthesia
  • High level communication skills (verbal and written) and effective interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders in health workforce education training, including the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Flexible approach with demonstrated time management and organisational skills to manage competing priorities.
