Overview :

Full-time, Fixed Term position for 2 years
Salary Academic Level A + 17% Superannuation
Based at the Melbourne CBD campus; may be required to work at other campuses

About You :

The ARC Training Centre for Whole Life Cycle Design of Carbon Neutral Infrastructure (“the Centre”) will bring together expertise from 21 academic and industry partners, including universities, government authorities, professional associations, and consulting companies.

The Centre aims to transform infrastructure stakeholders’ ability to design, construct, operate, and dispose of infrastructure in a carbon‑neutral manner, leading the world in sustainable infrastructure design and enabling industry to meet Australia’s emission reduction targets.

The Research Assistant will be a key member of the Centre’s interdisciplinary team, collaborating with research teams and experts across university nodes and industry partners. The role involves independent and team research in carbon assessment and management of infrastructures, structural engineering, structural reliability methods, circular economy of the built environment, and applications of artificial intelligence for data mining, processing, and modelling.

Travel to other nodes within Australia and potentially international sites may be required for collaborative work.

Qualifications :

Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs, evidenced by publications, new research initiatives, competitive funding, and industry links.

Demonstrated ability to supervise higher‑degree research candidates.

Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and secure alternative funding through industry and government liaison.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage varying workloads, and respond to changing priorities.

Excellent written communication and clarity in reports and documents.

Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
