Salary range of $90,000 - $102,000 (Full Time Equivalent) + Superannuation based on qualifications and experience
We are recruiting Aboriginal Health Practitioners to deliver culturally safe, competent primary healthcare to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients across multiple correctional settings.
We offer flexibility in working hours to suit your needs whether you are seeking full-time or part-time arrangements. Flexibility in work location is also available, providing opportunities to work across different centres and multidisciplinary teams to support your professional development and expertise.
You may apply for a single location or express interest in multiple sites, for example, working three days per week at Barwon Prison and two days at Melbourne Assessment Prison to make up a Full Time Equivalent role subject to current available days / locations as below :
Current Available Positions :
Lara Precinct - can work across multiple sites easily, they are all next door to each other :
Barwon Prison, Lara : Up to 5 days per week
Marngoneet Correctional Centre, Lara : Up to 3 days per fortnight
Other Locations :
Hopkins Correctional Centre, Ararat : Up to 5 days per week (Full Time and Part Time of 4 days per fortnight available)
Langi Kal Kal Prison, Langi Kal Kal : Up to 5 days per week
Loddon & Middleton Prison's, Castlemaine : Up to 5 days per week
Ravenhall Correctional Centre, Ravenhall : Up to 3 days per fortnight
Trainee Position : Melbourne Assessment Prison, West Melbourne / Metropolitan Remand Centre : Up to 5 days per week
About the role
Aboriginal Health Workers / Practitioners are key members of the GEO Healthcare Team and play an integral role in the delivery of Primary Healthcare Services across Victoria’s public prisons.
Reporting to the Manager, Aboriginal Health for cultural support and supervision, and to the relevant Area Manager for Operational Matters, you will provide culturally safe and competent primary healthcare to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients within a correctional environment.
The position functions within a multidisciplinary team and is required to refer, communicate, and collaborate with other health professionals to advocate for the cultural and health needs of Aboriginal patients, ensuring their care is delivered with respect, dignity, and clinical excellence.
Skills and Experience, the ideal candidate will have :
Currently studying for Certificate III or IV Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (or equivalent). The salary for successful applicants holding this qualification is $72,000.00 pa + Super.
