Your Employer:
Our client is a large Australian fresh produce supply chain business with farming, grower partnerships, packing, distribution and customer supply operations across the country. Their broader network supports year-round fruit and vegetable supply, with strong focus on quality, food safety, logistics and sustainable use of produce. This position is based at a medium-care capsicum processing facility in Ayr, where product from a nearby farm is sorted, graded, processed, frozen and packed for large food manufacturing customers.

The Role:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor leads the daily production team across a seasonal capsicum processing operation. You will coordinate people, workflow, yield, quality, food safety, WHS and reporting while developing toward broader operational leadership over time.

  • Supervise production staff across sorting, grading, decoring, processing, freezing, packing and palletising.
  • Monitor throughput, yield, waste, labour allocation and daily production targets.
  • Oversee start-up, shutdown, line changeovers, housekeeping and production records.
  • Maintain food safety, traceability, labelling, CCP checks and product specification standards.
  • Coordinate with logistics on cold storage, stock staging and dispatch readiness.
  • Train, induct and support seasonal labour, returning local workers and permanent team members.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance, deep cleaning, equipment checks and off-season preparation.

About You:
This role is a unique opportunity for someone seeking to further their career in the Australian fresh produce sector. Our ideal candidate will have practical experience leading production teams and maintaining strong standards across quality, hygiene, and safety practices. Other requirements include:

  • Previous leadership experience in food production, manufacturing, packing, hospitality, commercial kitchens or similar.
  • Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, PPE, quality, traceability and production documentation.
  • Ability to manage workflow, labour, throughput, yield, waste and team communication.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to support maintenance planning and troubleshooting.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including training, feedback and daily reporting.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Desirable: Forklift, first aid, HACCP, SQF, Freshcare, HARPS or similar exposure will be highly regarded.
