Edmondson Park PS is a new school that opened in Term 1 2023 and will form a part of an Educational Precinct of Preschool to Year 12, following the completion of the new high school next to Edmondson Park PS. The establishment of a new school is a 4-year process that requires high levels of creativity, problem solving, adaptability, consideration, and organisation.
We are a growing school community with a current enrolment of 892 students and the capacity to take up to 1200 students. Our current student population includes, 91% who are from a language background other than English and 2% who identify as Aboriginal. Edmondson Park PS is a P-6 site where the preschool is run by Liverpool Council.
We have a mix of early career and experienced teachers who work in hub learning spaces where learning with and from each other is a part of the school culture. Professional learning is a strong focus at our school, where teachers are provided with opportunities to develop understandings of the new curriculum during bespoke targeted collaborative sessions.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach primary English as an additional language or dialect or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in English as an additional language primary or dialect qualifications approved by the NSW Department of education.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team to support the literacy and English language skills of EAL/D students, including New Arrival students, using knowledge of the ESL scales and incorporate EAL/D strategies into daily classroom practice.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships with all members of the school community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
