Consultant Medical Oncologist | Major Regional Referral Service | VIC/NSW Border
The Opportunity
We are working closely with a substantial regional health service on the Victoria–New South Wales border and are keen to connect with FRACP-qualified Medical Oncologists interested in full-time opportunities within a well-established and expanding Oncology service.
The department provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient oncology care, including chemotherapy supervision and multidisciplinary case review. Consultants manage a broad solid tumour caseload while contributing to service development within a growing regional referral network.
This role will appeal to Oncologists seeking meaningful regional impact without sacrificing service capability or professional structure.
The Hospital & Cancer Services
This is one of the largest regional health services between Melbourne and Sydney, servicing a catchment of approximately 250,000 people.
The Oncology service includes:
• Dedicated chemotherapy and infusion services
• Inpatient oncology support
• Multidisciplinary tumour board participation
• Close collaboration with Surgery, Haematology, Palliative Care and ICU
• Structured referral pathways to metropolitan tertiary centres for highly specialised therapies
A major redevelopment program is underway, further strengthening emergency, inpatient and short-stay infrastructure and reinforcing the hospital’s role as a regional hub.
Why Consider This Role
• Large cross-border regional referral centre
• Established chemotherapy services
• Broad solid tumour exposure
• Strong MDT framework
• Redevelopment enhancing infrastructure
• Substantially comparable pathway supported
For interstate or international applicants, the RACP specialist assessment and AHPRA registration pathway can be clearly structured and supported.
The Location
Situated in a vibrant regional city on the Murray River, the area offers excellent schooling, strong sporting and cultural infrastructure, and convenient transport links to Melbourne and Sydney. It provides metropolitan connectivity with a balanced regional lifestyle.
Requirements
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) – Medical Oncology
• Specialist Registration with AHPRA (or eligibility)
• International Medical Graduates assessed by RACP as partially or substantially comparable
