Senior DevOps Engineer (GCP)

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to support a critical on-premises to Google Cloud Platform migration project in Australia.

This role requires strong expertise in GCP, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipeline development to enable seamless application rearchitecture and deployment in cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain DevOps methodologies and best practices to support development teams throughout the cloud migration process
• Design, develop, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes
• Collaborate closely with development and infrastructure teams to architect and implement scalable cloud solutions on Google Cloud Platform
• Utilize GCP services and tools to support development teams in building, deploying, and managing cloud-native applications
• Troubleshoot complex issues in production environments and provide timely support to ensure system reliability and performance
• Support the migration and re-architecting of on-premises applications to the GCP cloud infrastructure
• Document processes, configurations, and best practices to ensure knowledge transfer and operational continuity
• Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance on build and deployment strategies
• Work from the office in Sydney (2-3 days per week)

Requirements

• 2 – 3 years of experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and architecture
• 6+ years of experience implementing DevOps methodologies in enterprise environments
• Strong experience with CI/CD tools and pipeline development (e.g., Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes/GKE
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages
• Experience leading or participating in cloud migration projects
• Proficiency with monitoring and logging tools (Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Prometheus, or similar)
• Expert knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git
• Deep understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements in cloud environments
