Wellness, Health and Safety Advisor

Navitas is looking for an experienced and proactive WHS Advisor to support wellness, health and safety within our Group HR/WHS team. Working across our divisions, you’ll be supporting initiatives that can be rolled out across our portfolio of colleges, campuses, and offices.

The role is located in Sydney and provides the opportunity to engage our Divisional WHS team, which means you’ll become part of a dedicated community that extends beyond the classroom, encompassing a wide range of professions. This role allows for hybrid working, with three days in the office and two remote days if desired.

Job Description

In this role, you’ll work closely with operational leaders and be connected to our global WHS team, to support a safe and healthy work environment for our employees, students, contractors and visitors.

What you'll be doing

• Implement, and monitor workplace health, safety, and wellness programs in compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
• Conduct risk assessments, identify potential hazards, and recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures.
• Support the development of frameworks, policies and procedures, for both staff and student groups across Navitas' global footprint.
• Support with the preparation of leadership and Board reports
• Lead global wellbeing initiatives, such as annual exercise challenges and wellbeing surveys.
• Provide training and education to employees on health, safety, and wellness topics, promoting a culture of safety awareness.
• Maintain accurate records on Donesafe and SOLV platforms and prepare reports on health and safety metrics.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field e.g. Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, or related discipline
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety legislation and best practices(e.g.OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001)
• Experience in injury and claims management and return-to-work programs
• Experience implementing wellness, health and safety programs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency in data analysis and report writing
• Knowledge of ergonomics and workplace risk assessment
• Familiarity with relevant software (e.g. safety management systems, incident reporting tools) is preferable
