We currently have a vacancy for a Trades Leading hand at Broadwater Sugar Mill, in the Northern Rivers, 20 minutes to Ballina.

Whats involved?

We currently have a vacancy for a Mechanical Leading hand at Broadwater. This position reports to the Maintenance Engineer and supports the maintenance team by implementing weekly schedules, managing work requests and providing technical advice and leadership. The team will be a mixture of mechanical trades, riggers, scaffolders and labourers. In this role you will communicate daily with site teams relating to operations, maintenance and general issues. Will require hands on supervision of tasks performed in a heavy industrial environment. Part of the role will be to fill in for the maintenance planner in their absence. The role also requires frontline performance management of the team.

We are looking for

• Relevant trade skills (Boilermaker or Fitter)
• Experience in sugar mills or similar heavy industrial environment
• Strong focus on the preparation of formal risk assessments and improving safety awareness and culture
• Contribution to continuous improvement, SWMS, RA’s, RCFA’s and KPI’s
• Demonstrated leadership experience or qualities
• Commitment and good attitude to safety and culture
• Sound problem solving and trouble shooting skills
• Dogging / scaffolding / crane / forklift experience will be viewed favourably
• Previous experience mentoring and training apprentices highly regarded
