Role Summary

We’re looking for a Risk Manager - Operations First Line Risk to join our Life Insurance Operations team, supporting senior leaders and strengthening the risk and control environment. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on analytical work, giving you the opportunity to shape risk practices, influence business-wide processes, and build a strong, proactive risk culture.

Primary (Key) Responsibilities

  • Manage incidents for the Life Business Unit, develop action plans, and ensure timely reporting.
  • Support Line 1 risk and compliance activities, including RCSA completion, audit actions, vendor risk assessments, and business continuity planning.
  • Identify and mitigate emerging risks, monitor key risk indicators, and ensure risks stay within tolerance.
  • Prepare insightful reports for committees and forums on incidents, risk actions, and overall risk profile.
  • Develop process maps, design, test, and monitor controls, providing ongoing assurance.
  • Support outsourcing and vendor management through risk assessments and monitoring of service providers.
  • Contribute to operational remediation projects alongside SMEs and key stakeholders.
  • Provide feedback to improve processes, procedures, and risk-related activities across the business.

Improvement Focus

  • Contribution to operational remediation projects in conjunction with operational SMEs / key stakeholders
  • Feedback to the BU on opportunities to improve processes or procedures when identified through management of risk related activities.
  • Relationships

  • Establish a close working relationship with the key Internal stakeholders.
  • Work with 2nd Line Risk to ensure that business risk and compliance obligations are understood and embedded across the business.
  • Work with third parties utilised by the Life Insurance BU where relevant for Risk.
  • Qualifications Required

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Minimum of 4+ years of risk and / or compliance experience
  • Knowledge of Life Insurance (desired)
  • Previous experience in developing and implementing risk and compliance frameworks and providing risk / compliance advisory support preferred.
