Role Overview
Reporting into the Head of IT, this position oversees the health, performance and security of the core infrastructure environment while supporting service delivery and escalations across the technology function. You will lead patching cycles, resilience activities and cyber control initiatives while partnering closely with service desk and engineering teams to maintain operational stability. The role spans both cloud and on‑prem environments, ensuring performance, governance and risk controls remain aligned to business needs.
You will work across a broad Microsoft‑centric technology stack, including Windows Server environments, Azure infrastructure, Microsoft 365, Defender security tooling and virtualised platforms. The role also interfaces with backup and disaster recovery technologies, endpoint management tooling and monitoring platforms, ensuring infrastructure services remain secure, resilient and optimised.
Beyond operational accountability, the role plays a key part in shaping the future operating environment. You will contribute to cyber security uplift, automation initiatives and infrastructure modernisation programs. Acting as a conduit between strategy and execution, you will translate leadership vision into delivered outcomes while strengthening platform capability and risk posture. A further dimension of the role sits in stakeholder and partner alignment, working closely with managed security providers and infrastructure partners to uplift governance and operational maturity.
Responsibilities
Candidate Profile
You are a technically strong infrastructure engineer with deep experience across systems administration, cloud platforms and security tooling. Comfortable operating autonomously, you take strategic direction and translate it into delivered outcomes. You enjoy solving complex platform challenges and bring a structured, risk‑aware mindset to infrastructure and cyber initiatives.
Your technical background includes hands‑on exposure to Windows Server, Azure, Microsoft 365 and enterprise security tooling such as Defender. You are confident across virtualisation, networking fundamentals, backup technologies and identity environments, with the ability to troubleshoot deeply and stabilise complex platforms. Exposure to compliance frameworks and service management practices will be highly regarded.
You bring a balanced blend of technical depth and business awareness. You understand how infrastructure decisions influence operational risk, user experience and commercial outcomes. With strong initiative, you are comfortable leading projects end to end, influencing direction and ensuring delivery momentum without needing constant oversight. Your mindset is inquisitive, improvement focused and aligned to building scalable, secure and future‑ready environments.
