Position: Light Vehicle Mechanic

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $87,000 plus superannuation per annum

Location: Stafford QLD 4053

Our client is seeking a skilled Light Vehicle Mechanic to join their team located in Stafford, Queensland.

As a Light Vehicle Mechanic you will be responsible for carrying out servicing, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on a wide range of light vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications and Australian standards. The role requires a strong focus on safety, quality workmanship, efficiency, and customer satisfaction while contributing positively to the workshop team and overall business performance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Mechanical Servicing & Repairs

·Perform scheduled servicing on light vehicles, including oil changes, brake servicing, steering and suspension work, and general mechanical repairs

·Diagnose mechanical faults using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment

·Carry out repairs to engines, transmissions, driveline components, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and fuel systems

·Conduct pre-delivery inspections, safety checks, and road testing of vehicles

Diagnostics & Technical Work

·Accurately identify mechanical and electrical faults

·Interpret diagnostic data and manufacturer service information

·Recommend appropriate repairs and replacement parts

·Maintain up-to-date knowledge of modern vehicle systems and technologies

Workplace Safety & Compliance

·Follow all workplace health and safety procedures

·Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment

·Use tools and equipment correctly and report any faults or hazards

·Comply with environmental requirements, including waste disposal and recycling

Customer & Team Interaction

·Communicate clearly with management regarding job progress and additional work required

·Provide accurate information to assist with customer quotes and explanations

·Work cooperatively with other mechanics, apprentices, and support staff

·Assist with mentoring apprentices when required

Requirements:

To be deemed suitable for this position, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

·Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR30620 or equivalent)

·Minimum 2 years post-trade experience in a similar role

·Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills

·Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·Sound knowledge of light vehicle systems and repair techniques

·High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

·Current Australian Manual Driver’s Licence (Class C)

·Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements

Desirable Criteria

·Experience working in a tyre and auto service environment

·Experience with wheel alignments and modern diagnostic equipment

·Ability to mentor or supervise apprentices

·Strong customer service and communication skills
