Job description

Consultant Nephrologist
A unique opportunity to build and shape renal services within a supportive regional setting, offering both clinical autonomy and lifestyle balance
The Opportunity
This is a highly rewarding role for a Consultant Nephrologist looking to step into a position where your expertise will have visible impact. Working within a growing regional service, you will manage a broad spectrum of renal conditions, from chronic kidney disease and hypertension through to acute kidney injury and complex medical presentations.
The role offers a mix of inpatient consultative work and outpatient care, alongside involvement in dialysis services and chronic disease management. There is genuine opportunity to shape and expand renal services locally, including outreach, early intervention pathways, and integrated care models.
For those with an interest in service development, this position provides the platform to influence how nephrology care is delivered across the region — making it both professionally satisfying and strategically engaging.
The Hospital
The hospital is a well-established regional provider delivering a wide range of medical and surgical services to a broad catchment. It operates within a connected health network, ensuring access to tertiary referral pathways while maintaining strong local capability.
You will work alongside a collaborative group of physicians and multidisciplinary teams, supported by experienced nursing staff and allied health. The environment is practical and team-oriented, with a focus on continuity of care and patient outcomes.
There is ongoing investment in regional services, creating a stable and forward-moving clinical environment.
Benefits & Support

  • Competitive remuneration package with regional incentives
  • Relocation assistance and accommodation support available
  • Flexible working arrangements supporting long-term sustainability
  • Opportunities to develop and expand renal services
  • Strong multidisciplinary and peer support
  • Access to professional development and CME
  • Stable and supportive working environment

The Location
This is a lifestyle move that delivers immediate impact.
You’ll be based in a well-connected regional centre offering a relaxed pace of life, minimal commute times, and access to both coastal and rural landscapes. Day-to-day living is simple and efficient, with a strong sense of community and space to step away from the pressures of larger metro environments.
For families, there are solid schooling options and a safe, welcoming environment. For individuals, the appeal is balance — more time, less congestion, and the ability to maintain a fulfilling career without compromise.
Whether it’s outdoor activity, quieter living, or simply regaining time in your week, the lifestyle here is a key part of the role’s appeal.
Requirements

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with subspecialty training in Nephrology (or equivalent)
  • Eligibility for specialist registration with AHPRA
  • Experience managing a broad range of renal conditions
  • Interest in service development and regional healthcare delivery
  • Strong collaborative and patient-centred approach
