About the role
We're seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our talented culinary team at Mr Brightside', a leading restaurant in Caulfield South, VIC. As a Sous Chef, you'll play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef and ensuring the smooth running of our busy kitchen. This is a full-time position based in our modern, well-equipped kitchen.
What you'll be doing
Assisting the Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including menu planning, recipe development and food preparation
Supervising and coordinating the work of the kitchen staff to ensure high standards of food quality, presentation and timely service
Monitoring stock levels, placing orders and managing food costs to maximise profitability
Ensuring compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations
Providing training and development opportunities for the kitchen team
Collaborating with the front-of-house team to deliver an exceptional dining experience for our customers
What we're looking for
Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior kitchen role within a high-quality restaurant or café environment
Strong culinary skills with expertise in a range of cooking techniques and cuisines
Excellent time management, problem-solving and leadership abilities
Passion for using fresh, seasonal ingredients and creating innovative dishes
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to food safety and hygiene
Qualifications in Hospitality Management or a relevant culinary degree would be highly regarded
