Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for a Data Manager in Canberra or Melbourne to work on Land projects.

What You’ll Do

• Data & Information Management: Develop, maintain, and improve processes for storing, sharing, and managing project data using Defence systems (Objective, SharePoint, DOORS, Teams).
• Quality & Compliance: Support Project Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
• Technical Support & Training: Provide assistance and training to project personnel on applications, online systems, and data management practices.
• Governance & Reporting: Prepare briefs, reports, and submissions for governance forums, while coordinating project and contract meetings.
• Stakeholder & Procurement Engagement: Collaborate with Defence, industry, and contractors to manage procurement activities, evaluate responses, and build effective stakeholder relationships.

What You’ll Bring

• Data Management Expertise: Demonstrated experience as a Data Manager (or similar) on complex, highly technical Defence capability projects.
• Quality & Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of Defence Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ISO 9001 standards.
• Systems & Tools Proficiency: High-level experience with Defence information and records management systems such as Objective, SharePoint, DOORS, and Predict.
• Workflow & Documentation Control: Proven ability to develop and manage document workflows, ensuring version control and chain of custody.
• Stakeholder & Communication Skills: Effective collaboration in complex stakeholder environments, with advanced technical writing and strong verbal communication skills.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
