Job description

Our client is one of Australia's premier golf clubs, renowned for its exceptional lifestyle and world-class amenities and is seeking a CFO to lead their Finance, Human Resources, Risk, and Governance functions.

This is a rare opportunity for a commercially astute CFO to step into a highly visible leadership role, working closely with the CEO and Board to shape strategy, strengthen governance, and drive financial performance.

It will suit a hands‑on finance leader who enjoys balancing big‑picture thinking with practical delivery, and who can lead people, process and system improvement in a values‑led environment.

About the Role

As CFO, you will lead the Finance, HR, Risk and Governance functions, and play a key role within the Executive Management Team.

  • Lead end‑to‑end financial management including AP, AR, payroll, member accounts and tax compliance
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, cashflow, capital planning and five‑year projections
  • Deliver board‑level reporting, insights and decision support to leadership and committees
  • Lead audit, annual financial statements, internal controls and continuous improvement
  • Oversee enterprise risk management, insurance reviews and governance compliance
  • Provide commercial oversight of contracts, tenders, procurement and key suppliers

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:

  • Extensive hands‑on experience in an autonomous finance leadership role within a medium‑sized organisation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cashflow management, budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.
  • Proven ability to oversee taxation, insurance, and statutory compliance obligations.
  • Strong capability in analysing and advising on legal documents, procurement contracts, and tender proposals.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, and board‑level financial reporting.
  • Experience working directly with or reporting to a Board and/or Finance & Governance Committee.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative leadership style.
  • Demonstrated understanding of payroll award interpretation (Registered and Licensed Clubs Award).

What's on Offer

  • Executive‑level role with genuine influence and autonomy
  • Close partnership with an engaged CEO and Board
  • Opportunity to drive systems and reporting improvements
  • Values‑led culture focused on service and accountability
  • A diverse remit across finance, people, risk and governance
