The Patient Safety and Clinical Governance team at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Patient Safety) to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunity
The Clinical Nurse Consultant is an employee who is a registered nurse who:
- Is appointed to an advanced practice nursing position; and
- Demonstrates a specialised clinical expertise and/or specialised skill set.

- Expertise in the provision of direct care and/or support of systems and/or education and/or professional leadership.
- Consultation and provision of professional advice.
- Responsibility for a cohort of staff reporting to the position and/or education and research advice.
About The Team
The Clinical Excellence Unit Mackay Hospital and Health Service provides support and advice across all aspects of Service Delivery to maximise opportunities for continuous improvement that reflect contemporary practice that enhance opportunity for exceptional consumer outcomes. This is achieved through shared resources working together to provide Education, Quality, Patient Safety, Infection Control, Clinical and Service Governance.
The Patient Safety team provides a comprehensive service which supports the clinical areas to maximise patient safety outcomes, improve the patient's care and experience by measuring outcomes and evaluating service improvement and planning across the health service.
A key function of the Patient Safety team is to ensure the health service is compliant with legislative, regulatory and policy requirements of governing bodies such as the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC), the Health Quality & Complaints Commission, and Queensland Health, to name but a few.
This role has a Business Unit Partner Function whereby the position incumbent provides patient safety advice, support, co-ordinates patient safety activities and works with key staff across a designated business area. The CNC Patient Safety team members work collaboratively to provide MHHS requirements for patient safety issues i.e. Policy and Procedure, complex issues that require advanced skills and extended support.
