Consultant Anaesthetist | Regional Base Hospital | New South Wales
The Opportunity
We are working closely with a regional base hospital in New South Wales to connect with a Consultant Anaesthetist seeking a full-time appointment within a broad perioperative service.
This role offers a varied anaesthetic practice across elective and emergency surgery, perioperative assessment, obstetric support, and participation in on-call and theatre services. It will suit a specialist who values clinical autonomy, a meaningful regional scope of practice, and the ability to contribute directly to service delivery within a hospital that remains central to care across its surrounding community. The hospital provides emergency, surgical and specialist care and services a wider regional population beyond its immediate town.
The Hospital
This is an acute regional base hospital within New South Wales, providing a broad range of specialist services across emergency, surgery, medicine, maternity, paediatrics, oncology, rehabilitation, mental health, and critical care support. Public service profiles describe the hospital as servicing the Greater Taree, Great Lakes and Gloucester areas, with around 160 to 166 beds reported across public directories.
Hospital capability includes:

  • Regional base hospital with broad specialist service coverage
  • Emergency, surgical and perioperative demand within a substantial regional catchment
  • Maternity, paediatric, oncology, rehabilitation and mental health interface
  • Ongoing infrastructure investment through the Manning Hospital Redevelopment and the wider Lower Mid North Coast Health Service Project

Requirements

  • Fellowship of ANZCA or equivalent specialist anaesthetic qualification
  • Specialist Registration with AHPRA, or eligibility for Specialist Registration
  • International Medical Graduates assessed as partially or substantially comparable by ANZCA are encouraged to apply
