About You

You’re a hands-on technical professional who enjoys getting to the heart of a problem and keeping complex systems performing at their best. With experience across electronics, communications or electrical maintenance, you bring strong fault-finding skills, sound technical judgement and a practical, solutions-focused mindset.

Comfortable working with specialised equipment and technology, you know how to interpret technical documentation, follow established engineering standards and deliver quality outcomes without compromising on safety or precision. You take pride in doing things properly, whether you’re diagnosing a fault, completing maintenance activities or making sure technical records are accurate and up to date.

Just as importantly, you’re someone who works well as part of a team. You communicate clearly, share knowledge and look for smarter ways to improve systems, processes and performance. Relevant technical qualifications, hands-on experience with communications systems, a current or previous AGSVA Security Clearance, and the ability to reside in the Exmouth region will set you up to thrive in this unique role.

About the Role

As an HF Node Maintenance Technician, you’ll have the opportunity to work with specialised RF communications technology while supporting one of Australia’s critical Defence communications capabilities.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining, testing, troubleshooting and repairing the equipment and infrastructure that supports the Defence High Frequency Communications System (DHFCS). Your work will contribute to both the sustainment of the existing network and the continued rollout of the Enhanced DHFCS capability, helping keep critical communications reliable, operational and ready when they’re needed most.

No two days will look quite the same. You’ll combine hands-on technical maintenance with fault investigation, problem solving and collaboration alongside a highly skilled team. From diagnosing system issues and supporting engineering activities to completing technical documentation and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, you’ll play an important part in keeping this sophisticated capability performing at its best.
