Job description

Catholic Education NT operates 18 Catholic schools across the Northern Territory — from Early Learning to Secondary — including five colleges, seven primary schools, one flexible learning centre, and five remote schools. The position:

The RTO Trainer & Assessor delivers high-quality, competency-based Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs within. The role involves face-to-face and workplace-based training and assessment, ensuring delivery meets nationally accredited standards and industry requirements.

  • CHC30221 Certificate III in School Based Education Support
  • CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services

This position may be offered on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on applicant qualifications, experience and organisational needs. Commencement is negotiable.

Key responsibilities:

As RTO Trainer & Assessor, you will:

  • Deliver face-to-face and workplace-based competency-based training and assessment for secondary students and adult learners in line with nationally endorsed training packages.
  • Assess learner progress, provide timely feedback, and identify learning support needs to support successful outcomes.
  • Develop and adapt delivery models and reasonable adjustments to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Maintain accurate RTO administration, including attendance, session plans, learner records, assessment documentation and LMS updates.
  • Coordinate vocational work placements with employers and stakeholders, maintaining accurate learner records.
  • Design and implement assessment strategies and resources aligned to training packages and support continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to validation, compliance, audit and quality assurance processes in line with ASQA standards.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with industry partners and stakeholders.
  • Support learners and staff in remote settings and travel to remote communities when required.

About you:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent).
  • Has relevant industry qualifications at or above the level being delivered.
  • Has current or recent industry experience in the field of delivery.
  • Understands VET standards, training packages and assessment practices.
  • Has strong communication, organisational and time management skills.
  • Can work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Has strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office and data systems.
  • Holds (or can obtain) a current Ochre Card and Australian Working Rights.
  • Understands and supports the ethos of Catholic education.
