About the Role

Bowral & District Hospital is seeking Health and Security Assistants (HASA) to join a dedicated team working collaboratively to support the safe, respectful, and effective management of patients. In this casual role, you will help maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting clinical teams with patient care, comfort, and dignity across the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Support clinical staff with patient care activities while maintaining safety, dignity, and respect
• Contribute to a safe and secure hospital environment for staff, patients, and visitors
• Assist in protecting South Western Sydney Local Health District assets
• Support day-to-day hospital operations in a professional and respectful manner
• Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare and security team

Qualifications & Requirements

• Hold a current NSW Class 1A Security Licence, current First Aid Certificate, and a valid Australian C‑Class driver’s licence (including P1 or P2; learner licences not accepted)
• Willingness to work a 7‑day rotating roster including mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends, and public and school holidays, and to work within a morgue environment
• Demonstrated computer literacy at a data‑entry level
• Effective verbal and written communication skills to engage appropriately with staff, patients, and members of the public
• Strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and working within NSW Health policies and procedures

Selection Criteria

• Must hold a current Class 1A Security License with the NSW Security Industry 1997 Class 1A, Current First Aid Certificate and must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
• Participation in a 7 day rotating roster that includes weekends, public and school holidays, including morning, afternoon and night shifts.
• Demonstrated understanding and ability to comply with work health and safety principles, including safe manual handling and infection control.
• Sound understanding of the application of security techniques including conflict resolution skills, de‑escalation and restraint practices.
