The Company
Resourceful Recruitment has partnered with a leading entity within the Oil & Gas sector committed to pioneering advancements in energy solutions. Based in Brisbane, they are currently seeking an experienced QA/QC Welding Inspector to join the Quality team on a major capital project.
About the Role
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the QA/QC Inspector will provide guidance to, and oversight of, the EPC contractor regarding welding activities across the project to ensure compliance with company, national, and international standards and specifications. You will work closely with Construction, Commissioning, and Quality teams as well as EPC and third-party inspection bodies to drive a strong project quality culture from fabrication through to handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Quality Manager and Lead Welding Inspector with the development, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of the Project Quality Management System (QMS).
- Liaise with all Construction Groups, EPC contractors, and third-party inspection authorities to ensure relevant inspections are carried out.
- Attend Hold and Witness points both onsite and at off-site fabricators as required.
- Respond to Quality Inquiries and Issues relating to Welding and SMP (Structural, Mechanical, Piping).
- Promote a project quality culture and champion best practice across all project phases.
- Assist with investigations into project quality issues, including Root Cause Analysis, corrective actions, and monitoring of resolution implementation.
- Contribute to the Quality Feedback Process to ensure Lessons Learnt are captured and applied.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- CSWIP 3.1 and/or WTIA Welding Inspectors Certificate and/or WTIA Certificate 10 (essential)
- 5+ years' experience in a similar QA/QC role within refining, oil and gas, or equivalent heavy industry on large, complex hydrocarbon projects
- Demonstrated client-side QA/QC experience across brownfield and greenfield EPC environments
- Broad working knowledge of Structural, Mechanical, Piping (SMP) and tank construction, including modular construction
- Sound understanding of standards relating to structural steel and pipe welding
- Experience working with "Permit to Work" systems
- Strong written communication and IT skills
- Experience in construction, commissioning, completion, and handover of project assets
- Desirable: CIP Level 2, experience in an Australian Major Hazards Facility (MHF) environment, and exposure to T&I (shutdown), operations, maintenance, or reliability roles
