Architectural Graduate/ Graduate Building Designer
This role involves preparing and lodging Development Applications on the council portal. The draftsperson manages the DA process from start to finish and prepares required documents such as Statements of Environmental Effects and Waste Management Plans.
The role requires coordinating with subconsultants, including heritage specialists, bushfire consultants, stormwater engineers, structural and civil engineers, surveyors, and arborists.
The position suits someone who is organised, detail‑focused, comfortable with paperwork and compliance tasks rather than design or creative work. It is suited to someone who can confidently follow strict guidelines, established processes, and detailed requirements when producing drawings and documentation.
The role involves working in a high‑pressure environment with a consistently high workload, making strong organisation and resilience essential. It also offers a valuable opportunity to gain industry experience and develop strong foundational skills within the architectural and planning sector.
Responsibilities
- Drafting Architectural, Structural and Civil Design drawings
- Conducting site inspections and gathering site measurements of existing buildings
- Preparing accurate/detailed architectural and structural drawings using AutoCAD
- Co‑ordinating with subconsultants, including heritage, bushfire, stormwater, structural, civil, surveyors, and arborists
- Lodging DA Applications onto the portal, managing the DA process, preparing Statement of Environments, Waste Management Plans, etc.
- Preparing CDC / CC certificates
- Performing detailed documentation/drawings for waterproofing, flashing, detailing, detailed sections, windows, etc.
- Visualising architectural plans and preparing preliminary outlines of structural elements to assist designers
Skills and Experience
- Relevant Degree and/or Tafe Certification
- Practical experience in the NSW Home Building Industry, including knowledge of the BCA
- Relevant industry experience or willingness to learn on the job
- Proficient in spoken and written English, able to interact and communicate effectively at all levels with staff and clients and participate in the continuing growth of our company

Our firm primarily specialises in the architectural, structural and civil design of residential buildings. The majority of work will relate to existing buildings that have been damaged by fires, tree impacts and vehicle impacts.
