About The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Commercial Manager is responsible for providing commercial, financial and contractual leadership across UGL's Fuel & Energy East portfolio.

This role supports the successful delivery of contracts from tender development through to project completion, ensuring effective governance, risk management and commercial performance. You will work closely with operational, finance, legal and procurement teams to drive positive project outcomes and maximise commercial value.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead commercial input into tenders, bids and contract negotiations.
• Assess and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Provide commercial and contractual advice to project and operational teams.
• Develop and implement commercial governance frameworks, reporting and controls.
• Manage contract administration, claims, variations and dispute resolution processes.Facilitate and drive subcontractor and supplier commercial management activities.
• Drive continuous improvement and commercial awareness across the business.
• Partner with key stakeholders to optimise commercial outcomes and contractual compliance.

About You

• Degree qualification in Business, Law, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in commercial, contract management, legal or project services roles within major projects, infrastructure or engineering environments.
• Demonstrated experience reviewing, negotiating and administering complex contracts.
• Strong commercial acumen with a sound understanding of risk allocation, project delivery and contract law principles.
• Defence industry experience is highly desirable, particularly within Defence infrastructure, Defence sustainment, government contracts or other highly regulated environments.
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
