About the team/About the role:

The Cancer Information and Support Services Division (CISS) aims to empower and support people affected by cancer so that no-oneneedface cancer alone. This Divisionassistspeople as they navigate the cancer journey easing their emotional and practical burdens and helping them make informed decisions.

The Practical Legal and Financial Support Services team provides support to people affected by cancer ensuring financiallegaland other practical needs are met throughout their cancer trajectory. The services offered include Financial Navigation FinancialCounsellingand the provision of temporary financial relief along with pro bono legal workplace and financial planning advice transport to treatment and accommodation support.

The key purpose is to Lead the delivery of Legal and Financial Support Services and in collaboration with the Lead Practical Support Services ensure effective and efficient delivery of services that meet the practicallegaland financial needs of people affected by cancer.

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Provide operational leadership and oversight of all Legal and Financial Support Services including service performance strategy qualityimprovementand outcomesacrossLegalFinancial and Workplace Referral ServicesFinancial Navigation Financial Counselling and Financial Assistance.
• Lead andcultivate a high performing team creating a collaborative and supportive workenvironment that promotes employee and volunteer growth engagement and satisfaction.
• Apply a continuous improvement mindset to adapt the services in line with changes in need and demand for support and ensure long-term sustainability and scalability of services.
• Provide subject matterexpertisearound legal and financial support services asrequiredand ensureappropriate provisionof feedbacktrainingand promotion of the services across CISS and cross-divisional colleagues.
• Buildmaintainand oversee strong collaborative external relationships particularly with other state/territory Cancer Councils professional service providers and NFP and other partners and key internal cross divisional teams
• Lead on and/or support the Manager Practical Legal and Financial Support Services on service specific and strategic projects including but not limited to service evaluations and implementation action plans new initiatives and wider CISS strategic projects.
• Lead on service reporting for internal and external stakeholders for the legal and financial support services and regularlymonitorservice data and trends to make evidence-based service decisions and changes.
• Ensure service quality and compliance measures are in place including review implementation and roll out of pro bono service provider agreements and state and territory service agreements for interstate delivered services

About you:

Essential:

• Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in law or business/finance or project/program management.
• Experience delivering pro bono legal and/or financial support services and programs.
• Knowledge of legal and financial issues rights and options for people affected by cancer.
• Demonstratedtrack recordof successfully managing and developing high-performing and engaged client-facing employees who work both in-office and remotely.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with stakeholders and work in a collaborative cross functional way with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve improved outcomes for clients.
• Demonstrated ability to leadchampionand adapt to change.
• High level project and program management skills and experience in implementing monitoringevaluatingand improving services.
• Demonstrated ability to work within and manage budgetary requirements.

Desirable:

• Ability to hold legal practicing certificate.
• An understanding of the needs of people affected by cancer and the oncology health setting.
• Experience in a not-for-profit or community-based organization.
