  • Office location based in Royal Botanic Garden Sydney (Sydney CBD) with flexible working supported
  • Salary relative to experience and ranges from $129464 to $142665 super

The role
Join Botanic Gardens Greater Sydney and play a leading role in bringing some of NSWs most significant public events to this role youll conceptualise plan and deliver major activations hallmark events and civic celebrations across the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney The Domain and at times the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan and Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah. Youll create memorable visitor experiences that connect people with our iconic garden spaces while supporting strategic priorities visitation and revenue outcomes.

Working across multiple projects simultaneously youll take ownership of end-to-end event delivery including planning operations procurement stakeholder engagement budgeting and risk management. From New Years Eve event delivery and large-scale public events to whole-of-government activations down to smaller internal events and activations youll work with a diverse range of partners suppliers and agencies to deliver safe high-quality events that leave a lasting impact.

About you:

  • A seasoned event maker with 57 years experience bringing large-scale public hallmark civic or major outdoor events from bold ideas to memorable high-quality delivery.
  • A confident multi-tasker who can steer several complex events at once balancing competing priorities tight timeframes budgets and stakeholder expectations without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • A hands-on operational leader who understands what it takes to make events work on the ground including logistics site operations crowd management security emergency planning transport and event-day delivery.
  • A commercially aware procurement and contract manager who can engage the right suppliers set clear expectations and deliver safe compliant and successful event outcomes.
  • A financially disciplined planner who can manage large event budgets make informed decisions and contribute to strong commercial outcomes.
  • A natural relationship builder who can connect and collaborate across government commercial community and cultural sectors to create shared momentum.
  • A skilled negotiator and influencer who can bring people with different priorities together lead cross-functional teams and unlock outcomes in complex environments.
  • A structured project lead who can turn moving parts into clear plans manage risks and resources and deliver projects to agreed deadlines standards and expectations.
  • A calm proactive problem-solver who can work autonomously make sound decisions under pressure and keep delivery moving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to travel between Botanic Gardens Greater Sydney sites and support events outside standard hours including evenings and weekends when required.


What is an essential requirement:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Event Management and/or equivalent experience in event development and planning with a proven track record delivering major events.
  • Ability to work after hours including weekends as required.
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence.
